Our theme for today is “Traveling” and our aim is to revise our knowledge that we have got studding in this theme. We’ll revise all materials on the topic “Traveling” and we’ll speak, read, write translate and listen to the dialogue on the computer and make up your own dialogues.

Тема уроку: Подорож


 Освітня мета: продовжувати удосконалювати техніку читання, перекладу й переказу текстів; розвивати діалогічне й монологічне мовлення, усвідомлення учнями суті мовних явищ, застосованих в англійській мові, через яку може сприйматись дійсність.

   Практична мета: засвоєння та закріплення лексики по темі “ Travelling”, вживання групи часів Simple, Continuous та Perfect на письмі та в усному мовленні.

Розвиваюча мета: розвивати в учнів уміння переносити знання та навички в нову ситуацію, розвивати мовленнєві здібності ( фонетичний та інтонаційний слух, логічне викладення думок), розвивати інтелектуальні і пізнавальні здібності ( пам’ять: слухова, зорова, довільна, мимовільна)

   Виховна мета: виховувати в учнів культуру спілкування, доброзичливості, активності, працьовитості та  позитивного ставлення до англійської мови  

   Обладнання: дошка, підручники, компютер ( перегляд фільму, прослуховування діалогу, виконання тесту та складання слайдів).

Хід уроку

І. Організаційна чистина уроку

1. Greetings

-Good morning, pupils!

-Sit down, please. Let’s start our lesson. I’m glad to see you and I hope that you have a good humor for today.

 2. Topic, aims

       T: Our theme for today is “Traveling” and our aim is to revise our knowledge that we have got studding in this theme. We’ll revise all materials on the topic “Traveling” and we’ll speak, read, write translate and listen to the dialogue on the computer and make up your own dialogues.

3. Warming up  

T: First of all, as a rule, some questions to you and your task is to give the answers. Tell me pleasure:

  •  How are you?
  •  What day is it now?
  •  What month is it now?
  •  What autumn (winter, spring, summer) month do you know?
  •  What is the weather like today?

 Describe today’s weather.

T: You known, that English language is very rich in proverbs. And you, my dear, do you know any proverbs?

             1. An apple a day keeps a doctor away.

             2. Better late then never but better never late.

             3. My home is my castle.

             4. The smallest friend can be the strongest help.

             5. Appetite comes with eating.

             6. A great ship asks deep waters.

             7. It’s never too late to learn.

             8. Actions speak louder than words.

T:I see that you know all these proverbs very well. And now I’ll show you some words. Look at the blackboard. And your task is making up the proverb and finds the right proverb in the Ukrainian language.

The right proverb: East or West home is best

T: Translate, please.

  •  Tell me, please, how do you understand this proverb?

P1: Wherever you go it’s always new and unusual for you.

P2: Your family is waiting for you.

P3: At home you can do everything: watch TV, play computer games and so on.

P4: When you are going to the relatives we have to hearing them and get up early.

P5: Everything is unusual for you.

T: Thank you, pupils; you did this task very well. The theme of today’s lesson is “Traveling”. That’s why look at the blackboard, read and translate these words and word-combinations (на екрані). Make up your own sentences with these words.

4.Check on your homework

T: Tell me please, what was your home task for today?

T: What do you know about London buses?

   London buses are mostly red. There are 20.000 buses in London. Every day 4.5 million people go on a big bus in London. Most double-deckers have a conductor. Buses stop only at bus stop. It’s one of the British customs to stand in a straight line if they are waiting for a bus. People mustn’t smoke on a bus.

T: What do you know about London taxis?

 London taxis are mostly black. They are called black cabs. There are 18.300                           taxis in London. Taxi drivers study for 2 years and take a test before they drive. Taxis are more expensive at night, on Sundays and public holidays.

T: What do you know about the Tube?

    London Underground ( The Tube). There are 275 stations in London. Every hour 150.000 people go on the Tube. Rats and mice live in the Tube. The trains run all day and most of the night. There are 10 basic lines. Each line has a name and a colour. You can get a free pocket map of the Tube at each Underground station.

II. Основна частина уроку.

1. Revise lexical material. Conversation about traveling.

T: As far as our theme is “Traveling”. Tell me, please, what do you know about the traveling?

Traveling is very popular nowadays.

The fastest way of traveling is by plane.

Traveling by train is slower than by plane, but it nevertheless has its advantages. You can see the country you are traveling through and not only the clouds as you are flying. There are sleepers and dining –cars in passenger trains which make even the longest journey enjoyable. Some people like to travel by ship and enjoy a sea voyage or a river trip.

Many people like to travel by car. Traveling by car also has its advantages: you will never miss your train, ship or plane; you can make your own time-table; you can stop wherever you wish.

As for me I like to travel by car.

2. Listening comprehension.

T: Now, pupils, look at the blackboard, you’ll see a short film and you’ll hearing the dialogue at the airport. Be attentive:

Pupils are watching the film.

T: Do you understand this dialogue? Than give the answers on my questions.

- What is the exchange rate is today?

- Is David good in numerals?

- What did the employee do?

- Who is Rachel?

- Where is she?

- Who is Tom?

- Who is David?

- Where is David going?

- Is it his first trip?

-  What is David’s job?

-  What is Tom’s job?

-  What is Kristin’s job?

-  Is she Tom’s boss?

   T: Thank you. And who wants to retell this dialogue?

      This text is about a man, his name is David, and how he changed his money. He is a scientist, but numerals – they’re a problem for him. David thought that the exchange rate is 1 dollar for one and half British pounds. But the employee said that it is one and half US dollar for one British pound. This is his first trip to England.

        He has a wife and she was seeing him off at the airport. Kristin met in the airport her sister’s boyfriend Tom. He was seeing off Rachel on the plane to Chicago. Tom is a journalist. And he is also a researcher. Kristin is a reporter. They work together. Kristin says that she isn’t Tom’s boss, they are only colleagues.

  T: Thank you, pupils. Your marks are…

3. Let’s sing a song “If you’re happy”

Stamp your feet…

Shout “hooray”…

Do all three.

4. Match the pair

T: And now look at the blackboard. You see a dialogue. Here are questions. And your task is to choose the right answer. Let’s start!

(Pupils choose the right answer)


-Hello! Where are you going?

-I’m going to Canada.

-Who is going with you?

-My sister Ann and my parents.

-Is it your first trip?

-No, it is not. Two month ago I traveled to Italy.

-Great! I was traveling to Turkey last summer. It was wonderful. Listen. They are announcing the flight to Canada.

-You are right. Bye.

-See you soon.

Dialogue 2.

     -Where did you go on holiday in summer?

  •  To Budapest.
  •  Did you fly there?
  •  No, I didn’t. I went by ferryboat ant train.
  •  Where did you live?
  •  In a hotel. The Hilton Hotel.
  •  How long did you live there?
  •  For six days, from Friday to Wednesday.
  •  And what did you do there?
  •  Well, the hotel had Wonderful swimming pools, so in the mornings I visited interesting places and in the afternoons swam.

  Dialogue 3.

  •  Hello!
  •  Hi!
  •  Are you going to Kiev?
  •  Yes, I am. And where are you going?
  •  I’m going to Lviv. My relatives live there.
  •  I have many friends in Kiev. And they are calling me.
  •  And my relatives will be very glad to see me. I haven’t seen them for ages.
  •  They are announcing the flight to Kiev. Bye.
  •  Bye.

Dialogue 4.

   -Hi! Where are you going?

   -I’m going to my relatives. They live in London. And you?

   -I’m waiting for a flight from Chicago. My parents will come.

   -As for me, I like traveling by plane. And you?

   -I don’t like to travel by plane, I like to travel by car.

   -See you soon.


5. Work with a computer.

(Pupils do the tests at first then they do sleds)

 T: My dear, now you’ll go to the computers take your sits and will do the test at first. Then you’ll do sleds. You may go.

  1.  Test – write down the marks.
  2.  Sleds – will show on the blackboard.
