T.: Good morning, everybody. You are welcome to our English language lab!

Slide 1         Here we learn English having lots of practice in speaking, making dialogues and

grammar. We are not afraid of making mistakes, because here, in this lab, we try

to get rid of them and learn to speak correct English. We are positive, we learn to

speak in turn and respect other opinion.

Nice to see you, my dear students! You are so good-looking today! Your eyes are shining. I know you are eager to dive into English again. And it’s high time to start our lesson. Look at the blackboard and guess what we are going to talk about today. … That’s it. Superfamily is the topic of our lesson today. What other subtopics concern family life as a rule?

FREE TIME ACTIVITIES

T: Now, close your eyes and imagine the family you would like to have in future Who has seen himself in a large family? All of you will take your seats here (табличка FOR).  And now raise your hands all those who likes having a small family. You will give your arguments against large family and those seats are yours (табличка AGAINST). Use phrases I agree, I disagree, I think, In my opinion (табличка

The pupils who haven’t decided what position to take will stay at their places and listen to the arguments of both sides and after debates you’ll have to join one of the groups and explain the reason of your choice.

For

Against

  •  It’s never boring in a large family, you always have someone to play with.
  •  There is a spirit of cooperation.

              Everyone helps each other.

               Elder children look after

               younger ones.

  •  Parents don’t spoil their children.
  •  Children help their parents, the

               family does everything

               together.

  •  Big families are usually very

united and friendly.

  •  There is much noise in the house.
  •  Parents are tired of doing lots of laundry, washing up and other housework.
  •  You should have much food, shampoo, toothpaste and money.
  •  Younger children wear clothes of their elder brothers and sisters.
  •  Parents of big families have no time for their hobbies.
  •  In small families children have toys, sweets, fruit and vegetables to their hearts’ content.

T: Arguments of both groups were quite solid. But I think only the parents of large

Slide 2           families can clear the picture up. Now you are invited to the talk-show Father,

Slide 3           mother, me are – a superfamily. Meet Ian and Sue Povey with their two children

Ann and Lisa. Their family is really large. You’ve got a great chance to search

them about it. But don’t forget about the rules of our English lab and ask questions

in turn.

  1.  How many children have you got?

Yes, it’s rather difficult, but interesting at the same time.

Thirteen children live with us. Our daughter Caroline has her own family. They live

in London and our eldest son Brian is a student at Oxford University.

  1.  How many children in the family go to school?

            Nine.

Much. We buy 7 litres of milk, 5 kilogrammes of vegetables and fruit a day.

T: We can call Sue a supermum. By the way, have you ever thought of you as future

mums and dads? Just fancy you’ll do that now. Girls will represent us a super mum

and tell about her appearance and household duties. Boys will do the same task, but

they will produce the image of super dad. Your performance can be in a form of a TV

programme, a film, a mime or a song. You are given one minute for preparation.

T: Well, your performance was perfect. You’ve got the idea. Children, who can prove that you’ve got a super mum or dad? Who can prove that?

P1: I’d like to tell you about my mum. Her name is Svitlana. She is 34. She’s got two nice children – my sister and

      me.

Our mum is not tall. Her hair is shoulder-long. She has got beautiful grey eyes. Her eyelashes are thick and

curvy and her eyebrows are thin. She has got rosy thin lips. My mum’s smile is charming. She has got short

wrinkles near her eyes and many moles.

My dear mum likes reading a lot, but frankly speaking she’s got no time for her hobby. She also cooks tasty

       dishes.

My mum is very calm, loving and good-looking. She never punishes us and tells that we are the best

children in the world. We think she is the best mother in the world.

P2: I’ve got a super dad. His name is Yuri. He is 35. I think my father is a good-looking man. He’s tall and strong.

He has got an attractive face. His eyes are brown. He has got a beard and a moustache. His nose is straight and

small. My father likes wearing sun glasses. My classmates think he dresses in style. My dad loves his family very

much. He’s a railway worker. He works hard to earn money, but he always has time to help mum with the

housework. He often goes shopping and fixes thins in the house. At weekends daddy organizes picnics for the

family. He can cook delicious shish-kebab.

My father is fond of music. He likes playing the guitar and singing. He is also interested in photography.

But my dad can’t stand playing computer games and watching foolish programmes on TV. I love my daddy

        very much.

T: My dear students, are there super children in the world? Are you super children? Can you

prove that you are not lazy, but hardworking? Let’s tell about helping your parents playing a

    “Snowman”game. Start with When I get home…

Slide 4                When I get home I  take the dog for a walk

                                           tidy up my room

to check if you tell the truth. Show us what you can do with the things on the table

while singing the song This is the way

This is the way  I  wash the dishes

                                        sweep the floor

                           mix the salad

              clean the mirror

                                         skin banana

This is the way I peel potato

I peel potato, I peel potato

This is the way I peel potato

Ann D.: Slide 6   This is me in my kitchen. My mum is a teacher. She likes teaching very

much. She is sually busy at work. So, I often help her to cook meals when

she comes home from work. I can make the salad Olivier without my mum’s

                                help.

Slide 7   To make it I take some potatoes, some carrots, some sausage, some eggs,

some tinned cucumbers and peas, some mayonnaise for dressing.

Slide 8    First, I wash the vegetables and eggs.

Slide 9    I put them into the pot and pour some water there.

Slide 15   I sometimes garnish the salad with flowers made of carrot and parsley. The

salad Olivier is ready. It’s very delicious.

T: Thank you , Ann, for such a marvelous presentation.

Slide 16        “Making tea is not a problem”, - says Max T.  Meet Max with his recipe.
