  •  описати різноманітні спортивні події в Україні та світі;
  •  розвивати зорову та слухову пам,ять;
  •  виховувати повагу до людей, що досягли успіху у спорті;
  •  активізувати лексичні одиниці з теми;
  •  виховувати у собі повагу до особистості іншої людини;
  •  пригадати факти основних спортивних подій в Україні та світі;
  •  розвивати  уміння висловити свою точку зору, відстоювати її, реагувати на  репліки  однокласників;
  •  розвивати предметні та ключові компетентності.

I. Motivation

II. Оголошення теми  уроку та очікуваних результатів.

 

1) What do you think is the theme of our lesson? 

As far as you understand, the theme of our today’s lesson is Sports events in the world”.

2)Knowing the theme of the lesson let’s define the aims of our lesson. What do you expect from this lesson? What new knowledge,  what results?  

By the end of the lesson you should be able:

  •  review and activize  the words  and word –combinations;
  •  to remind vocabulary on a given topic;  
  •  to exchange information  on the basis  of  a given situation;
  •  to describe different kinds of  soprts events in the world;
  •  to make a project.

3) Dear students! There is a hourglass. Take your sands and write what  will you expect  from this lesson (new information, activity and so on) (children write their expectations.)

4) Exercise “Ёлочка ассоциаций” “The tree of associations”

I offer  you to do an exercise from the TSRT –pedagogics, (the theory of solving research tasks)  called “the  tree of assosiations”.” You have an algoritm of doing this exercise.

Let’s start. Write the starting word “sport”. What assosiations do you have with the word “sport”? Write in column as many words as you can and do it very  quicly. You have only 20 or 30 seconds. Write:  Sport.... Stop. What word was the last? This word is  a key-word now. Write a dash near this word. Write “Sportsman”... Stop.  What word was the last? It is a key-word. Write “competition”... Stop.  What word was the last? Write “Prize”.Stop.

Read  what key-words have you written. Say only the key-words when I told “Stop”. Why have you chosen these words? Explain your choice of these words. (Children explain)

5)Write only key-words now.. Make your own  sentences using only key-words. Two  or three sentences.

And now use all words which you have, make the title of the text and short text in any style. You should write 8-10 sentences. You have only 4 minutes to do that. Lets present you texts. Read your  texts.

TEXT “The Olympic Games”

The Olympic Games have always included a number of ceremonies, many of which emphasize the themes of international friendship and peaceful cooperation. The opening ceremony has always included the parade of nations, in which the teams from each nation enter the main stadium as part of a procession. The Greek team always enters first, to commemorate the ancient origins of the modern Games, and the team of the host nation always enters last. The opening ceremony has evolved over the years into a complex extravaganza, with music, speeches, and pageantry.

It is eagerly anticipated and well attended. The torch relay, in which the Olympic Flame symbolizes the transmission of Olympic ideals from ancient Greece to the modern world, was introduced as part of the opening ceremony at the 1936 Summer Games in Berlin, Germany. In the relay the torch is lit in Olympia, Greece, and is carried over several weeks or months from there to the host city by a series of runners. After the last runner has lit the Olympic Flame in the main Olympic stadium, the host country’s head of state declares the Games officially open, and doves are released to symbolize the hope of world peace.

Two other important ceremonial innovations had appeared earlier at the 1920 Games in Antwerp, Belgium. The Olympic Flag, with its five interlocking rings of different colors against a white background, was flown for the first time. The five rings represent unity among the nations of Africa, the Americas, Asia, Australia, and Europe. Another innovation occurring in 1920 was the first reciting of the Olympic Oath, taken in the name of all the athletes by a member of the host’s team. The oath asserts the athletes’ commitment to the ideals of sportsmanship in competition.

At the end of the 1956 Summer Games in Melbourne, Australia, however, the athletes broke ranks and mingled together to celebrate the occasion. This custom was continued in subsequent Games. After the athletes join in the main Olympic stadium in celebration, the president of the IOC invites the athletes and spectators to meet again at the site of the next Games. The IOC president then declares the Games ended, and the Olympic Flame is extinguished.

4) Discussion.

Does politics influence sport? What do you think? I suggest you the following disscussion. This exercise called  interactive exercise “ Take position”  and “Change position”.

Give your arguments for or against the following statement: “ Sport is out of politics.”

Stand up and came to expression of your opinion. For or against. Why do you choose for or against? Explain. We have listened to some arguments. Have you changed your position, your opinion? Go to another picture. Everyone of you has his own opinion. We wish that sport would be out of politics.

5) Project work. Work in groups. 

Now we are going to make a project. Last year in Ukraine was popular TV show

“100 famous Ukrainian”. Such TV programms and show are very popular now. Today we make a project and call it “ Five  outstanding (the best) sportsmen and five  remarkable sports events in the world”.

You have a paper and you can do everything you want. Write, draw some pictures and so on. You have 5 minutes. Then please present your projects.

Chose a speaker who will present your project. Use the all paper.

               

                                 

           

6) Evaluation.

The teacher says who was the most active during the lesson, who worked  well and good. And the teacher comments the pupil’s marks as well.

7) Giving homework.  Write a composition “My favourite ahtlete”.
