There are 3 contradictions in the story. Find them and correct the story:

There is a 41-year-old bachelor in Teheran who says he hasn’t had a moment of sleep since he was beaten up 23 years ago.  He is in good shape and father of three boys. He says he lost his ability to sleep 23 years ago when he was attacked by two masked men as he was on his way home. He now works eight hours as a painter, and eight as a night-watchman. His family is very happy with him. His youngest daughter says she thinks her father is the best father in the world because “any time I wake up in the night, my father is up and takes care of me.”

Joseph Ignace Guillotine

A doctor and member of the French Legislative Assembly, he suggested the use of the guillotine ['gɪləti:n]for executions in 1789. A physician and humanitarian, Guillotine was disturbed by vulgarity [vʌl'gærɪtɪ] of public executions and petitioned for a single method of capital punishment to be used for all crimes demanding the death sentence. The guillotine consists of a heavy blade with a diagonal edge, which falls between two upright posts to cut off the victim’s head cleanly and quickly. Similar machines had been used in various other countries including Scotland and Italy. The main idea was to make execution as quick and painless as possible. The first person executed by guillotine was the highwayman Pelletier in 1792, but the machine came into its own in 1793, during the Reign of Terror following the French Revolution, when aristocrats were guillotined by the hundred. The device was nicknamed “Madam Guillotine” after its sponsor.

The first time I (1) met/ was meeting Julia was about eight years ago. I'm Australian, but  I (2) spent /was spending a few months over in Britain - (3) I did/was doing some photographic work for Harry, an Australian friend of mine. Anyway, one really hot summer day, Harry and I (4) decided / were deciding to invite a whole group of people to his house for a barbecue, and Julia (5) arrived / was arriving first. Actually she was really early and we weren't ready at all. I can still remember.. she was obviously a bit embarrassed ... so, anyway, I (6) started / was starting talking to her, asking her lots of questions, and, you know, (7) I thought / was thinking we (8) had / were having a good conversation when the other guests (9) began / were beginning to arrive.
