The amazing and unique places of the USA

In my presentation about the amazing and unique places in the USA I would like to tell you about the wonderful natural places that I have visited during my American summer: the Grand Canyon, the Death Valley, the Zion national park and the Yosemite national park.

The Grand Canyon is canyon carved by the Colorado River in the state of Arizona in the United States. It is contained within and managed by Grand Canyon National Park, the Hualapai Tribal Nation, and the Havasupai Tribe.

Every year, a staggering five million people flock to Arizona to see the Grand Canyon's sweeping views, hike its trails, and hop on a mule for a trip through the vast canyon. Nearly five million people travel here each year; 90 percent first see the canyon from the South Rim with its dramatic views into the deep inner gorge of the Colorado River. So many feet have stepped cautiously to the edge of major overlooks that in places the rock has been polished smooth. But most of the park's 1,904 square miles are maintained as wilderness. You can avoid crowds by hiking the park's many trails or driving to the cool evergreen forests of the North Rim where people are fewer and viewing is more leisurely. The Grand Canyon boasts some of the nation's cleanest air, with visibility on clear days averaging 90 to 110 miles.

It's hard to look at the canyon and not be curious about geology. Rock that dates back 1.8 billion years lies at the bottom. Exactly how the river formed the canyon is still unclear, but geologists generally agree that most of the cutting occurred within the last five million years.

Except of the canyon, we have also visited the Havasu falls, which are located in the historical land of the Havasupai tribe.

Death Valley is a desert valley located in Eastern California's Mojave Desert, the lowest, driest, and hottest area in North America.

Death Valley's Badwater Basin is the point of the lowest elevation in North America at 282 feet (86 m) below sea level.

In this below-sea-level basin, steady drought and record summer heat make Death Valley a land of extremes. Yet, each extreme has a striking contrast. Towering peaks are frosted with winter snow. Rare rainstorms bring vast fields of wildflowers.

Despite its morbid name, a great diversity of life survives in Death Valley. Death Valley has a subtropical, hot desert climate with long, extremely hot summers and short, warm winters as well as little rainfall.

The valley received its English name in 1849 during the California Gold Rush. It was called Death Valley by prospectors[28] and others who sought to cross the valley on their way to the gold fields, although only one death in the area was recorded during the Rush. During the 1850s, gold and silver were extracted in the valley. In the 1880s, borax was discovered and extracted by mule-drawn wagons.

Zion National Park is located in the Southwestern United States, near Springdale, Utah.

Zion's geology provided these and later pioneer farmers a combination rare in the desert: a wide, level place to grow food, a river to water it, and an adequate growing season.

Follow the paths where ancient native people and pioneers walked. Gaze up at massive sandstone cliffs of cream, pink, and red that soar into a brilliant blue sky. Experience wilderness in a narrow slot canyon. Zion’s unique array of plants and animals will enchant you as you absorb the rich history of the past and enjoy the excitement of present day adventures.

First protected in 1864, Yosemite National Park is best known for its waterfalls, but within its nearly 1,200 square miles, you can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area, and much more.

Not just a great valley, but a shrine to human foresight, the strength of granite, the power of glaciers, the persistence of life, and the tranquility of the High Sierra.

Yosemite is known for its granite cliffs, waterfalls, clear streams, giant sequoia groves and biological diversity. Two Wild & Scenic Rivers, the Tuolumne and Merced rivers, begin in the park and flow west to the Central Valley.

So to sum up, America’s natural wonders are uncountable, and you can hardly see and experience all of them. I was really astonished and mezmerized by the natural places I have visited during my summer in the USA and I would definitely like to come back to the States one day and explore more. Thank you for your attention.
